Scrolling (A poem)
Share
As many people do, I struggle a lot with phone addiction.
I wrote this poem when I was in a bad cycle of essentially "scrolling my life away", instead of living it. I hope this piece is seen as a reminder that we all have lives to live of our own too, and it may be scary to chase our own dreams, but it is more fulfilling than sitting in bed and watching others fulfill theirs.
Yes, it is great to support others and feel inspired as they live out their dreams! But in my experience, I had a toxic relationship with focusing on all I didn't do and what I could've done while watching them, instead of being inspired and getting up and working harder.
I definitely still struggle with doom scrolling, but I am working really hard to become mindful of the hours I spend, because time is so precious, and we all deserve to live our lives and spend every minute of it actually LIVING!
This is from my book, "Fill Your Mind With Flowers".
